In the referendum, residents were asked a simple question, “Do you want Rossendale Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the Edenfield Neighbourhood Area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”
The result of the referendum vote on the Edenfield Neighbourhood Plan held on 20th February was as follows:
Yes: 620
No: 28
Rejected: 1
Number of eligible voters: 1,675
Turnout: 38.7%
The Council now has to make an Order for the Neighbourhood Plan to become part of the Rossendale statutory development plan within the next eight weeks.
Thank you to all those who voted and to everyone who has supported us during the many years it has taken to get the Neighbourhood Plan in place.
A number of questions from residents arose during the referendum, so we’ve put together some explanations which hopefully answer these questions.
